biografische angaben: Born 1948 in a farming community in Wisconsin. American painter. He received his undergraduate and graduate education at Illinois State University. He vomed to Chicago and taught at Bloom Trail High School in Steger, where he ran a student mural program with his fellow teacher and future wife, Olivia Gude. Together they became involved in creative community projects and were especially active in Pullman, where they lived. Although he is primarily a sculptor he also paints, and he is now director of the Chicago Public Art Group, having initially served as its part-time director since 1988. He has trained young artists and directed and participated in many large-scale art and mixed-media projects in the Chicago area, both temporary and permanent.
