biografische angaben: Born 1948. Murals were one of Cynthia Weiss's earliest memories from a childhood spent in Mexico City. Later she encountered the mosaics of Antonio Gaudí during the time she spent in Barcelona while earning her B.A. at Colorado College in 1975. She continued to focus on public art at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received her M.F.A. She has worked for many years as a professional artist and arts educator, with expertise in teacher training, project development, and integrated arts curriculum design. She developed her own business, Cynthia Weiss Mosaics, through which she produced more than twenty-five large-scale mosaic murals for private and public spaces. Teaching and directing art programs, Weiss has worked with students at many schools on projects sponsored by Urban Gateways, Erickson Institute, Pulaski Community Academy, and other organizations.
