biografische angaben: Born 1942. Raised in New York City, he graduated from Harvard in 1964, and attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1964 to 1966, consulting with Jean Hélion. He studied with Stanley Hayter at Atelier 17 in 1966 and earned his M.F.A. at the School of the Art Institute in 1968. Describing himself as one of the first "Euro-American" artists to participate in mural painting, he was a founding member with William Walker and Eugene Eda of the Chicago Mural Group in 1970 and its main administrator for ten years. He was coauthor with Eva and Jim Cockcroft of Towand a People's Art: The Contemprary Mural Movement, first published in 1977 and reissued in 1998 in an expanded format. In addition to his activity in Chicago, he has worked in Europe, New York, and Los Angeles. Muralist, teacher at Elmhurst College, writer, and conductor of workshops, he is an active participant in the Chicago artistic community.
