biografische angaben: Born 1905 in Chicago, died 1993. American painter. She received her B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute and her M.F.A. from the University of Chicago. She also attended Illinois Institute of Technology and studied in Paris with André Lhote. She was professor of painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute for forty-one years, from 1927 to 1967, and chairman of the Division of Fine Arts from 1963 to 1966. She also taught at Rockford College and Valparaiso University. During the New Deal period she executed twenty-fife murals and seven sculpture commissions in the Chicago area. She also worked in Ceramic and stained glass and was represented by the Art Institute Rental Gallery.
