Jorgensen received her B.A. from Lake Forest College in 1957 and her M.F.A. from the School of the ARt Institute in 1964. She taught at Elmhurst College from 1966 to 1996 and was chariman of the Art Department from 1975 to 1986. She was an important presence at the college for thirty years and often gave lectures and guided tours of its art collection. She exhibited widely in the Midwest.
