biografische angaben: Born 1862 in Germany. Brandt was taught by his father and also studied in berlin and Dresden. He came to the United States in 1882 and was a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1911 to 1916. While a student he painted murals for the Monadnock Building Café. He left Chicago to live in Moline, Illinois, Boise, Idaho, and Portland, Oregon, ultimately returning to the city in 1920.
