She graduated from Morgan Park High School, Crane Junior College, and the School of the Art Institute, where she studied under Albert Krehbiel, Louis Rittman, and others, and at Ox-Bow, the summer school of art at Saugatuck, Michigan. She traveled extensively through Europe and the Far East. She worked as a photographer and painter, in the mediums of oil, watercolor, serigraphy, lithography, ceramics, and enamel.
