Her dissertation, Federal Patronage and the Woodstock Colony, assesses the economic, political, aesthetic, and social effects of New Deal government art programs on the Woodstock art colony of Ulster County, New York. Dr. Marling joined the faculty of Case Western Reserve University in 1971 as Assistant Professor of Art History. Professor for Art History at Minnesota University
