«During the early morning hours of April 13, the date planned for the vernissage of the mural in the Palacio [de Bellas Artes], the government took matters into its own hands. The Secret Police cut the mural from its battens, unceremoniously rolled it up and took it away. […] A number of months later the mural was discovered in a government warehaouse. It was never returned to its place of birth; Rivera found that the Peoples Republic of China was a willing recipient and the mural found a permanent wall in Peking.»
